HUM HAI JUNOON
In 2018, was the first time I was introduced to the thought process and all the hard work gone into forming a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) - Hum Hai Junoon. When I first found out about it, I couldn't commit to their purpose completely as I had to travel due to my academic commitment and my studies in the UK. However, I did seize every opportunity I got to volunteer for them, whenever I came back to India during the holidays. I would usually volunteer to document their various projects and at times to teach them as well.
The captivating imagery of documentary photography is the feeling it unravels when you go through the photographs. The viewer can see the smiles, laughs, support, and positivity that Junoon Foundation has brought to the lives of children that need it. It’s commendable to see how these children are benefiting from the work of this NGO. No matter what the circumstances may be, these children haven’t given up on studying. They have come across students that have financial difficulties they needed to deal with at home, family members that they need to take care of, some of them have gone through mental and physical torture of facing Molestation or are rape survivors....and now have a pandemic to survive. Yet, their dedication to their education and the support of the volunteers is not broken.
